Which smokeless fuel should I choose?
Choose fuel for your appliance and your home. Fuels4Less now sells smokeless fuels rather than traditional house coal.
1. Check your appliance instructions
Use only the fuel types your appliance manufacturer permits. A wood-only stove is not automatically suitable for smokeless ovals or briquettes. If you are unsure, ask your installer or manufacturer before ordering.
2. Check local smoke-control requirements
If you live in a smoke control area, check the fuel and appliance rules for your location. Read the official GOV.UK smoke-control guidance and confirm the exact product's authorisation before use.
3. Compare the current range

Bag weights and pack quantities vary. For the Newburn and Burnwell 25kg bag options, 10 bags contain 250kg, 20 bags contain 500kg, 30 bags contain 750kg and 40 bags contain 1,000kg. Compare the total price, including any delivery charge, against the total fuel weight to calculate cost per kilogram. Check each product page and checkout for current options and prices.
Planning for winter
Keep fuel dry and follow the storage instructions on its packaging. Check your stock, appliance maintenance and delivery access before the colder weather arrives.
